If you loved me Treat me like a Princess! - Koyal Hansraj, New York
From childhood itself, I always had prebirthday blues. I would start imagining a birthday which is nothing less than perfect. Everybody would wish me at the strike of midnight. I would be everybody’s darling, my parents would pamper me and my friends would treat me like a princess even if it meant just for a day. Needless to say, I would only end up disappointed on my birthday and be sad over the fact that my own high expectations ruined it.
But I am helpless. My boyfriend Abhay got to know about my ‘birthday disease’ from my best friend Neeti. He took me to his private cabin where he cooked a special meal for me and baked a birthday cake, which was half burned and also gave me a bouquet of handpicked wild flowers! I realized he was clumsy, too mushy and almost dumped him the next day. After a week I realized that I had still not gotten over my birthday disease and made the sweetest guy on this earth Abhay, the victim of my overworked mind and fantasy. I apologized to Abhay and promised to behave myself for my next birthday.
Zara Hatke No marriages in Japan in 2006! - Kareena Meheta, NJ
My boyfriend called me in the middle of the night last Sunday. I was tired and shocked and almost mad at him for waking me at 3:00 a.m. He said he had something important to tell me. My heart skipped a beat and I thought he wanted to break up with me. He told me that next year there won’t be any marriages in Japan because it’s an inauspicious year for them. I didn’t understand and was very confused. He then said let’s get married before this year ends! I don’t want to take any chances. I was pleasantly surprised and started giggling.
We are not Japanese and neither have we ever thought of going there I told him, so why are you even considering it not that I am complaining He said he just wanted to propose me ‘zara hatke’ and whined that all the Shahrukh Khans, Karan Johars and Yash Chopras had already stolen his love lines. He had just finished reading an interesting article on weddings in Japan and before anyone even in their wildest dream thought of using this angle, he thought he’d be the first one to do it!
Melting Moments Men are Liars! - ABC, New York
I had just broken up with a guy and I hated anything that even remotely looked like a man. We were a bunch of 5 girl friends and we hit the pub where each one of us had one common thing to say that ‘Men are liars!’ Why can’t they just be what they are? I was very emotional and even broke down. A guy who was having a drink on the next table walked up to me and said, ‘Excuse me miss, but can I flirt with you?’ My friends were ready to pour the beer jug on his head. But I looked at him and realized that he was just being honest. I said yes. It’s been three months now that Tarun and I have being going around and it’s far from flirting both of us would admit.
Love Games Calling Noorjehan! - Mini Khanna, New York
My husband Abhishek is very fond of keeping nicknames for me even after five years of our marriage. He sometimes calls me by flower names like Daisy, Tulip, Lilly, Sunflower and sometimes names from history. Once, some of his relatives had come to visit us from Delaware. I was in the kitchen, preparing some snacks and there was a phone call for me, which Abhishek received. He called out for me and said Noorjehan your phone. Suddenly the old lady stood up and Abhishek was surprised. He then realized that her name was also Noorjehan!
