Mallik's Short Skirt

Mallika Sherawat will do a walk-on part in the Centenary show of Mahabanoo Mody Kotwal's Vagina Monologues, which will be staged at Prithvi Theatre, Mumbai, later this month. Mallika will perform the piece My Short Skirt, which, Kotwal says is very apt in today's times. The same piece was performed by Hollywood star Marisa Tomei in Mumbai at the International Women's Day Celebrations last year. Besides Tomei, Jane Fonda and Eve Ensler, who performed in Mumbai, Mallika joins the ranks of the several stars - including Dame Judi Dench, Julia Roberts, Oprah Winfrey, Whoopi Goldberg and others who have done walk-on parts in Vagina Monologues worldwide.

Om Puri to play Amitab's elder brother
Om Puri has replaced the late Amrish Puri who was supposed to play the role of Amitabh's elder-brother in B. R. Films' Babul, which will be directed by Ravi Chopra.

Big B's new project
Vinod Khanna and Jaya Bachchan will head the cast of A.B. Corporation Ltd.'s new project, to be made in association with Spice Team Entertainment. While A.B. Corporation Ltd. is currently producing FAMILY - TIES OF BLOOD [Amitabh, Akshay, Aryeman] in association with Keshu Ramsay, this new venture will be A.B.'s first joint venture with Vibha and Ragini of Spice, who had earlier produced KAUN HAI JO SAPNO MEIN AAYA and SHUKRIYA and have completed filming CHOCOLATE and AMAR JOSHI SHAHEED HO GAYA.The story revolves around the mother-daughter relationship -- will star Aishwarya Rai as Jaya Bachchan's daughter, while Ajay Devgan will be seen as Ash's beau in the film. Directed by Sharbani Deodhar [who had directed the Karisma Kapoor-Chandrachur Singh starrer SILSILA HAI PYAR KA], the film is expected to go on floors in September this year. It will be filmed in Mumbai and London.Vinod and Jaya aren't paired opposite each other; both are married to someone else in the movie. Bhawani Iyer [BLACK, MAIN AISA HI HOON] is scripting the venture.
Navjot Sidhu in a Hindi film
Former Indian cricketer turned commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu is reportedly signed to play the male lead in Rajesh Bhatt's film Tusi Great Ho Paaji. The film is a love story between a middle-aged Indian Sardar and a young British girl. This is the same role that was earlier supposed to be played by Mithun Chakraborthy.
SRK issued a legal notice
Shahrukh Khan’s production house Red Chillies entertainment was issued a notice by the People in Defence of Animals or PIDA for abusing camels in his forthcoming film Paheli. PIDA claims that observers in Rajasthan informed them that the camels used in the film for a race sequence were severely whipped and ill - treated. This is the second time the production house has been accused of ill treating animals in films. Earlier there were reports of the tigers used during the shooting of Kaal being tortured.
Smriti Malhotra-Irani appointed jury member
Actress Smriti Malhotra - Irani, Tulsi of ‘Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ has been chosen jury member at the Monte Carlo Film Festival. She will also stage her own play ‘Kuch Tum Kaho Kuch Hum Kahein’ along with her co-star Aparna Mehta.
