The Shah Rukh Diwali Dhamaka
Shah Rukh Khan, the darling of Bollywood fans abroad displayed his box office clout yet again this Diwali, with Yash Chopra's Veer-Zaara becoming an instant hit in the United Kingdom and North America, grossing about $1.8 million over the weekend, ending many months of box-office famine. Veer-Zaara also became the first Indian film to open with 88 prints in the US.

Diwali releases have always spelt magic as far as the Bollywood Box Office is concerned. Diwali means fun, merriment & bonuses and at a time when people are willing to spend more than usual. A film released during the period has got a better chance of people going to theatres. Some of the biggest hits of the past few years - Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Raja Hindustani, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil To Pagal Hai, Mohabbatein – have all been released during Diwali.

This year, likewise, saw a lot of hopefuls queuing up to release their films on Diwali day. The films that did manage to make it were Veer-Zaara, Aitraaz (Akshay Kumar, Kareena, Priyanka Chopra), Naach (Abhishek Bachchan, Antara Mali) and the evergreen classic Mughal-E-Azam. Unlike in India, where the restored version of Mughal-e-Azam might eat into its box-office take, in North America and the UK, Veer-Zaara opened without much competition. The colorized Mughal-e-Azam is yet to open on both sides of the Atlantic.
Kajol says yes to movie with Aamir
Dusky actress Kajol is finally ending her sabbatical from Bollywood and has given her consent to act in Kunal Kohli’s next film opposite Aamir Khan.
 |
The super selective Aamir is said to have immediately agreed to do Kunal’s film after reading the script. And now, Kajol, who has been in hibernation for a long time after her baby girl Nyasa's birth, too has given her consent to act in the yet untitled movie. Kajol was earlier approached for a Karan Johar project, but she declined to act in it because working in the movie on an outdoor shoot would have kept her away from her daughter.

Although not much is known about Kunal’s movie, it is being described as a mature love story. Kajol and Aamir have earlier acted together in Indra Kumar’s Ishq, but this will be the first time they will be seen as a screen couple.
Few know that Aamir was the first choice for Hum Tum, which was later played by Saif Ali Khan. Besides this film, and The Rising for which he has been sporting a handlebar moustache, Aamir will be also seen in Ketan Mehta's Rang de Basanti.

Baap numbari, beta dus numbari!!
While Veer-Zaara continues to make waves and rake in the moolah, Shah Rukh Khan has ventured where Hollywood celebrities like Tom Hanks, Sylvester Stallone, Antonio Banderas and Gene Hackman have ventured before. He has lent his voice to the Hindi version of Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar's latest animation film, The Incredibles. The film is a story of a family of reluctant superheroes trying to live in disguise in a quiet suburban neighborhood, who have to blow their cover to save the world. This will be the first time SRK's voice will be used for an animated character.
|
After K3G, son Aryan Khan again joins King Khan in the film, as he dubs in the film too. Khan has dubbed for the lead character of the film Mr. Incredible (Mr. Lajawab, in the Hindi version), who is a retired superhero making a comeback. Son Aryan will be doing the voice of Tez Lajaawab, Mr. Incredible's son. So now, they will be a real and reel father and son team! The Hindi version is expected to release on December 17th, the same day as the other Shah Rukh Khan starrer, Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Swades.
