Some of the well known models and fashion designers in Delhi are sporting hipster tattoos and a few of them never lose an opportunity to flash their posteriors at those interested in aping their styles. Model Diandra Soares, who boasts of a beauty right down her derriere that drives men wild, says she is not averse to letting her guard down at high profile gatherings.

Costing between $40-100, these Jewels at the Rear’ take some doing from the tattoo makers. “There is some pain, though usually it goes off after the first few minutes,” says another well-known socialite in Delhi who boasts of an intricate work of art on her navel and all the way down.

The women, who themselves get turned on by the body art, claim that it is a trend that has existed in India from time immemorial, having been used by women across social segments – right from queen to courtesan and housewife to concubine. It even finds mention in the famous love epic Kamasutra by Vatsyayana.

Cyber Relationships

Cyber love affairs have become commonplace in third world countries like India where a large number of the population is Internet savvy. Cyberspace has taken the place of parks, pubs and theatres; as a common meeting place for friends here and this is where love blossoms more often than not. There have been cases where cyber relationships have culminated in to marriages and also cases where young guys and gals have eloped just based on their virtual acquaintances and landed in deep trouble. Is this trend of socializing in the cyberspace unleashing a dangerous trend while transcending geographic barriers?

But cases like that of a teenage girl, who ran away with a boyfriend she met on the Internet, fell in to the trap of a prostitution racket in Mumbai, reveals an unhealthy and intimidating trend.

Chatting on the net was a favorite pastime but now it’s slowly becoming a matchmaker. A number of young Indians have taken to the cyber space to find a partner as there are no strings attached and they have a world of variety to pick and choose from. As a result of this, we might see more number of inter-caste and inter-racial marriages with an equal number of eloping couples in India soon.
